(And How You Can Too)

People often think AI is only for tech experts or big companies. But let me tell you — I use AI every week for real-life problems. No fancy skills needed.
Here are three ways I’ve used AI to make life easier for my family, my nonprofit work, and even my volunteer efforts.
1. Understanding Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security
When my family needed help with healthcare benefits, I had to learn about Medicaid QMB (Qualified Medicare Beneficiary), Medicare rules, and Social Security income.
It was confusing. The income and asset limits were hard to understand. But AI helped me by:
Summarizing government rules in plain language
Explaining how income and assets are counted
Creating a simple checklist to know if we qualified
It saved me hours of research and reduced my stress. AI created this helpful table:

2. Creating QuickBooks Reports for My Nonprofit
Running a nonprofit means I have to stay on top of our finances. I needed clear reports in QuickBooks to show where our money was going.
AI helped me:
Learn how to build custom reports
Track grant spending properly
Find step-by-step instructions quickly
It was like having a personal assistant who never gets tired.

3. Building a Lesson Plan for Grade School Students
As a volunteer, I wanted to teach kids how to use an app to build a simple guide in just 20 minutes.

I asked AI to help me create a lesson plan. In minutes, AI gave me:
A step-by-step activity plan
Kid-friendly language
Ideas to keep students engaged
A time breakdown so we’d finish on time
This saved me so much time and helped me feel more prepared to give the kids a fun learning experience.
AI Is a Helper and an Empowerment Tool
For me, AI is not about replacing people. It’s a helper. It empowers me to:
Support my family with important decisions
Run my nonprofit more efficiently
Give back to my community through teaching and volunteering
Now It’s Your Turn
AI is here. Not to scare us, but to support us.
If you’re a caregiver, a leader, a volunteer — AI can make your work easier and your impact bigger.
Don’t wait. Start with one small question. Use AI to help you solve a problem today.
Navigating complex systems and leading a business will always come with a bit of stress but you deserve tools that lighten your load…at least a little. For me, AI has lightened my load a lot.
How will you use AI to give you back your time, your energy and your hope?
